A Council that works for the community
Our only purpose is to serve you; the people living and working in West Sussex. The County Council should make things easier and better for people living in the county.
Where we aren't managing to do this, we will change. We are committed to our customers, ensuring they get the information and service they need, when they need it and how they need it. If we are not getting things right we want you to be able to tell us so that we can do better in the future.
As politicians we have all been elected by our community and, as an organisation, our officers support us in doing the work you elected us to do.
We are acutely aware that the money we spend, we spend on behalf of all our residents. All of us within the County Councils are guardians of that money and everything we do is about providing the very best service at the best value for money.
We are working closely with partners, other local councils, the health service and other organisations, to continue to improve the services you receive. Our ambition is that, if you or your community needs something doing, you will receive a seamless service from public bodies in the county. We know we have a way to go on that, but that is our aim.
Because we are here to serve you we promise to be open and transparent about the work we do and how we do it. We will talk to you about the things we know are important such as changes to services through formal and more informal consultations, and we will make sure you can see information about decisions making meetings, meet in public, some local to you area and, as well as broadcasting some of these meetings, we also make proposals and debates available so you can see the discussion and decisions that are made. You can also contribute to some of these meetings to help us take the right decisions.
We use social media, digital media, our local press, local forums and a whole range of other ways to make sure you know what we're doing and when and why we're doing it.
